The project “Integrated Responses on Migration from Central America Activity” (IRM program) will allow IOM to address gaps and challenges on sustainable reintegration and irregular migration in the region by improving integration or reintegration-related services (protection, psychosocial care, referral services, training, among others) at the individual, community and structural levels.

The overall objective is contributing to the reduction of push factors of irregular migration from Central America, increase citizens’ rootedness in their home countries, and contribute to safe, orderly, and regular migration. The activity’s geographic scope includes six countries of Central America, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, and Belize.

Under the direct supervision of the IRM National Coordinator and the general supervision of the Sub Regional Project Coordinator in Coordination with the Program Units, the Senior Program Assistant will support the implementation of the project activities in the IRM Program. T he Senior Program will be responsible for executing the following tasks: Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Coordinate, plan and supervise the implementing activities related to the Costa Rica Mission Strategic Plan and the IRM work plan.
  • Develop the terms of reference, support in the selection and follow up on the work of consultants.
  • Maintain and strengthen effective cooperative relationships with key national counterparts (government and civil society) and international organizations involved, to explore synergies and avoid duplication of actions.
  • Carry out, as required, field visits for the development of the program’s activities at the national level in coordination with the national monitoring and evaluation officer.

  • Coordinate the administrative tasks required for the implementation of the activities and control of the allocated budget.
  • Implement the technical reports related to assigned area.
  • Identify and document good practices and lessons learned that contribute to improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the implementation of activities.
  • Supervise, guide, and coordinate the work of other j unior project assistants.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Education:

Highschool degree with 6 years of relevant professional experience.

Or

Bachelor’s degree is required, like social work, administration, politics science, law, international relations, economy with 4 years of relevant professional experience .

Experience:

Experience working with international cooperation and international humanitarian organizations, an advantage

Skills:

General knowledge in management and General studies on migration will be an advantage.

Languages: Fluency in English and Spanish (oral and written).
