Internship opportunities at the ITER Organization

Task Title: Q1-INTERN-CNST13-Process Design and Control of Component Cooling Water System-1 Domain: Construction Domain Department: Plant Construction Department Division: Mechanical Implementation Division Section: Cooling Mechanical & Welding Section Duration (in months): 6 Location: France, 13067 St Paul Lez Durance Cedex Description of tasks:

This internship will be focused on process and control design of the Component Cooling Water System-1. The scope is first to finalize the process design in Valve Room and Level L4 of Tritium Building and then to assess the operation of Component Cooling Water System (CCWS-1) during the staged approach by using Fathom Software. Finally, the activity will be focused to develop a lumped parameter model of the Instrumentation & Control control functions by means of Matlab Simulink software.

Task 1: Become familiar with the Cooling Water System (CWS) and Fathom software; Task 2: Support the finalization the process design of Component Cooling Water System 1 (CCWS-1) in Valve Room and at Level 4 of Tritium Building; Task 3: Assess the operation of Component Cooling Water System-1 during the staged approach using Fathom software and, if needed, propose feasible modifications of its configuration; Task 4: Help in developing a Matlab Simulink model for each Control function of Component Cooling Water System (CCWS-1) and tuning of the controller parameters.

The ITER Organization offers internship opportunities to undergraduate and postgraduate students with the objective of providing these students with the opportunity to gain practical experience in their field of study, whilst collaborating in an international, scientific and multicultural environment. Internships are offered for up to six months, extendable for up to one year (depending on the category). To find out more about our internship program, please refer to our website (click here)
