The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance.

The ICRC is mandated to work in countries affected by armed conflict or other situations of violence. The ICRC is present in over 80 countries and has some 19,000-field staff.

In 2014, the ICRC expanded its presence to Ukraine. There are more than 600 ICRC staff working in Kyiv, Dnipro, Poltava, Vinnytsia, Lviv, Donetsk, Luhansk, and Odesa.

The ICRC is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to fill the position of Mental Health & Psychosocial Support Field Officer in its sub-delegation in Dnipro.


The Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Field Officer implements Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) activities as defined in collaboration with the relevant coordinator at local and national level. S/he provides direct support to victims of armed conflict and/or other situations of violence and/or trains, supervises others to do so.

Functional general responsibilities:

  • Develops, implements, and follows up on MHPSS activities during emergency and in armed conflict related settings at local and national level.
  • Trains and supports URCS staff/volunteers and other organizations/partners/teams as per the program’s strategy.
  • Implements MHPSS activities directly through individual consultations or group support activities via outreach activities.
  • Organizes referrals of beneficiaries and performs case follow-up when needed.
  • Complying with ICRC standards, sets up culturally and context-appropriate monitoring and evaluation tools and ensures regular data collection during emergency.
  • Develops and maintains contacts with URCS, health authorities, academics, technical advisers from other organizations, etc. as necessary.
  • Creates and maintains direct links with MHPSS programs beneficiaries.
  • Maintains regular communication with the Mental Health & psychological team and/or MHPSS HPM, providing data and programs updates.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • University degree in psychology, clinical psychology is preferable
  • 3 to 5 years of overall professional experience with minimum 2 years’ experience in MHPSS programs.
  • Experience in conducting training and supervision.

  • Red Cross/Red Crescent experience an asset.
  • Clinical, psychosocial, and community-based experience
  • Humanitarians experience an asset.
  • Fluent command of English as well as the main local language.
  • License to practice in own country.
  • Computer proficiency
