Role Description

Under the supervision of bankers in the FI SEMED team, the intern will support the transaction related process in:

  • Financial analysis of banks, non-bank financial institutions, and projects potentially including construction of financial projections.
  • Data gathering, research, analysis and providing background information on banks, financial sectors and country economies.
  • In particular, with regard to Algeria and Sub-Saharan Africa as potential new countries of operation for EBRD, assist with ongoing baseline research into the financial sectors, contribute to early analysis and preparatory work.
  • Contribute to research, product development and growing the team’s knowledge of capital markets instruments as they are becoming more relevant in the SEMED region. As an example contribute to development and marketing of DPR projects in the region.
  • Administrative and analytical support in specific areas of project monitoring.
  • Production of reports required during the project cycle and liaison with the Bank’s internal credit department and other relevant departments.
  • Drafting specific assigned portions of EBRD documents and correspondence.
  • Attending meetings with bankers where appropriate.
  • Assist in the Team’s technical co-operation projects.

  • Numerical skills
  • Financial skills – ability to analyse balance sheet and P&L statements, and potentially design basic financial models
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • Very good written (report writing, correspondence) and verbal communication skills in English. French language skills would be an advantage.

Education/Experience required

  • good relevant degree from a leading university in the country of education ( economics, finance, business)
  • computer literacy
  • some relevant commercial experience
  • experience in other IFIs and donor experience is a plus
