The Vacuum-Vessel Pressure Suppression System (VVPSS) includes the Wet Recombiner, a gas-liquid scrubber with an active catalytic packing that will remove hydrogen via catalytic oxidation, tritiated water vapour and dust. The intern will assist in the engineering development of prototype equipment. An R&D programme is anticipated for the Wet Recombiner and the intern will develop a design of a bench scale unit before further developing the design of a pilot scale system

Task 1: Assist the development of sizing calculations and identification of design parameters; Task 2: Assist in the design and specification of a catalyst for the recombiner; Task 3: Assist in the development of a small-scale unit testing programme, to demonstrate the hydrogen oxidation performance; Task 4: Assist in the development of a large-scale test facility.

The ITER Organization offers internship opportunities to undergraduate and postgraduate students with the objective of providing these students with the opportunity to gain practical experience in their field of study, whilst collaborating in an international, scientific and multicultural environment. Internships are offered for up to six months, extendable for up to one year (depending on the category). To find out more about our internship program, please refer to our website (click here)
