Its mandate is to secure the cooperation of governments and others in locating missing persons. Position Background
ICMP is implementing a multi-year grant to assist Iraqi authorities to develop a sustainable process of accounting for missing persons and to ensure the rights of families of the missing are secured. Part of this assistance is to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations (CSOs) in increasing the participation of families in accounting for their missing relatives and to build bridges with the Iraqi authorities mandated by law to address the issue. To support CSOs to further their advocacy with families of the missing, ICMP seeks a qualified proposal writing and fundraising expert.
Key tasks
In close coordination with the ICMP Civil Society Initiatives (CSI) team and under the overall guidance of the ICMP Head of Program in Iraq, the expert will perform the following:
- Organize, deliver, and report on a (1) one-day in-person workshop on proposal writing and fundraising for Iraqi partner civil society organizations (CSOs) who work with families of the missing
- Produce a prerecorded webinar on proposal writing and fundraising in Arabic
Requirements
- In-depth understanding of the Iraqi civil society and its ethnic, cultural and religious diversity
- Experience working with grassroots CSOs
- Experience in organizing and delivering in-person and online workshops
- Excellent public speaking and communication skills
- Ability to turn complex, technical, and sensitive subject matter into clear and persuasive writing in English and Arabic
- Knowledge of regional funding opportunities, fundraising best practices and techniques
- English and Arabic fluency required; Kurdish fluency preferred
- Comfortable working independently, remotely and in a team environment
- A home office with computer and other equipment including access to a reliable internet connection to deliver the webinar
- Availability to work in-person in Iraq, and remotely within the MENA region time zone
Deliverables
1. Prepare presentation materials on proposal writing and fundraising, including desk research on regional funding opportunities (platforms etc.) in a MS PowerPoint presentation.
2. Deliver a one day in-person workshop in Iraq on proposal writing and fundraising to Iraqi CSOs (~10 participants)
3. Report on the workshop in English
4. Record a webinar on proposal writing and fundraising in Arabic
5. Final Report
The consultancy is expected to 15 days with additional days for travel and to complete the HEAT (hostile environmental awareness training) prior to travelling to Iraq
