Job Summary


As part of the continuing global effort to reduce the use of highly hazardous pest control products in agricultural production, CABI has launched an open-access CABI BioProtection Portal (link)). Targeted primarily at growers and advisors, and available in multiple languages, the CABI BioProtection Portal offers a free- and simple-to-use central reference point for all information related to nationally registered biological control and biopesticide products. CABI is keen to get you involved in this global programme when you share our mission that growers produce safer and higher quality food through sustainable approaches to crop production.

The CABI BioProtection Portal was launched in 2020 and presently covers 31 countries. CABI needs to ensure that the biological control and biopesticide product data, which is held within the Data Management System of the portal, is accurate and up to date. The portal’s coverage also needs to be extended to new countries. The portal’s Data Management team provides the subject-specialist and editorial expertise for the production and management of the CABI BioProtection Portal. Working as a key member of the Data Management team for the portal this role will be responsible for regular maintenance of product data for existing countries and collating data for new countries The role will also support the Data Management team in obtaining permissions from national regulators to use their data.

The candidate will be keen to learn about biological control and biopesticide product data, in particular regulatory requirements and label specifics. Ideally, they should also have a wider interest in biological crop protection. The candidate will be able to plan and deliver work on a cyclical basis and, be confident, eloquent and polite with regards communication internally and externally.


  • Working closely with the Data Manager and the Data Management team be responsible for updating biological control and biopesticide product data for priority countries within the Data Management System on a monthly basis, as well as ensuring updates are appearing on the live site

  • Collating data for new countries and delivering the data to the Data Manager
  • Reporting bugs and issues on the Data Management System, or the live site, and work closely with the Data Management team to correct these bugs and issues
  • Investigating regulatory requirements on a per country basis
  • Liaising with national regulators regarding data permissions
