WHAT YOU WILL DO:
The Chief Risk Officer (CRO) provides thought and technical leadership to preserve and strengthen the Bank’s capacity to identify, measure and manage financial and non-financial risks effectively and within the Bank’s risk appetite.
The CRO leads the Office of Risk Management (RMG), reports to the Executive Vice President and works with senior management (directly and through membership in management committees), leads presentations to the Board of Executive Directors, and represents the management team both internally and externally on matters pertaining to RMG’s responsibilities, including with rating agencies and Multilateral Development Banks. The CRO also accompanies transformations in the institution like the ongoing Digital Transformation and the Operational Excellence Agenda on continuous improvement.
Among others, the CRO’s responsibilities include the following:
- To lead a team of over 50 highly skilled, interdisciplinary and multicultural professionals, organized in five functional units.
- To design, seek approval and maintain up to date the Bank’s risk management framework, including applicable policies, guidelines, data and systems. This mandate runs across all the main financial and non-financial risk areas of the Bank, including the capital adequacy framework commensurate with the Bank’s triple-A credit risk rating, the asset and liability management framework, the internal control, operational risk and enterprise risk frameworks and policies and guidelines pertaining to management of environmental, social and governance dimensions in Bank operations.
- To ensure effective and efficient oversight and implementation of risk management policies and guidelines, including by chairing and representing RMG in Management committees.
- To foster an integrated risk management culture, including the sharing and adoption of evolving best practices, deployment of training and providing mentoring and coaching at all levels of the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.
- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB Group.
- Education: A Master’s or equivalent, in finance, mathematics, business administration or other related disciplines.
- Experience: At least 12-15 years of relevant work experience in banking or financial services, including leading roles in risk management or other relevant disciplines and a proven track record of managing risk successfully.
- Languages: Fluency in English. Working knowledge of Spanish is a plus.
