Purpose of Job

The Associate, Organisational Development will deliver and act as the point of contact for 2-3 medium-large sized projects (technical or non-technical) which will deliver key components of the HROD Target Operating Model, as directed by the Principal Project Manager. The role holder will be required to scope and plan their allocated project(s), develop and own key project management documents and work collaboratively with a mixed-function team including business as usual HR Subject Matter Experts, third party suppliers and other project team members. As an experienced Business or Project Analyst, the role holder will work independently to deliver a range of analytical activities across the project lifecycle and reinforce best practice with colleagues in the wider HR team

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Identify, document and implement Target Operating Model Requirements

Undertake analysis and requirements scoping to produce comprehensive detailed requirements

  • Evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, resolve conflicts, identify/close gaps, and translate financial and people modelling in to tangible impacts
  • Manage stakeholder engagement with groups at all levels of the business to influence and educate them on new processes
  • Deliver operating model transformation activities including delivery model design, spans of control and process efficiency assessments
  • Collaborate with relevant HR Subject Matter Experts and stakeholders in the bank to establish service delivery vision and analyse trade-offs

Delivering Process Improvements

  • Identifying and mapping improvements to processes across the department using best practice mapping and improvement tools and approaches
  • Scoping improvements as discrete projects and managing throughout planning, design, test, implementation and monitoring phases

Process mapping and re-engineering

  • Create process maps for as is end-to-end processes across a number of sub-functions within HR
  • Identify risks and issues in current processes and systems and record in an issues log
  • Work closely with Subject Matter Experts throughout HR&OD, develop and implement process solutions to improve operational efficiency
  • Develop process workflow and design in line with process mapping approach agreed for HR including tools, language and engagement protocols
  • Support designing and delivery of engagement and training sessions on new processes

System and process implementation delivery

  • Provide delivery and implementation support throughout the lifecycle of the project
  • Support development and testing from the business perspective (e.g. pilots)

Manage relationships and stakeholders

  • Act as the conduit between the business and the development and/or delivery team
  • Design, organise and facilitate effective workshops
  • Support mediation between all parties to interrogate and reconcile conflicts in order to secure buy-in and not just sign-off
  • Agree with the Principal, Project Manager, HR&OD the required change management activities to be completed and, where appropriate, develop a plan for these activities to be completed within the required timeframes

Act as a project lead, as directed, and single point of contact (SPOC)

  • Be responsible for the outcomes as well as the outputs of allocated work streams/projects
  • Apply the HROD project management methodology and principles including risk management, planning activities and status updating
  • Provide written and verbal updates on project process to a range of stakeholders at all levels as required
  • Work flexibly across a number of concurrent (but potentially related) small projects or on a single larger project

Qualifications & Skills / Experience & Knowledge


  • Experience of working within HR transformations or back office transformations at large companies
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience of working in an agile, waterfall environment
  • Experience of working in a large scale transformation project/programme
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with colleagues at all levels of the organisation
  • Experience of working independently and proactively within tight deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail, particularly in the context of developing large, complex documents
  • Proven track record of managing and resolving competing priorities
  • Excellent written and oral English language skills
