II. Organizational Context and Scope
The Western Hemisphere Program, funded by the U.S. Department of Population’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM), seeks to strengthen government capacities to manage migration in a humane and sustainable manner.
Under the overall supervision of the Regional Programme Technical Specialist (Migration and Crisis), the Migration, Crisis and Climate Change Assistant will be responsible for carrying out the following tasks: III. Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Assist in the implementation and monitoring of emergency activities, migration crises and migration due to climate change.
- Support the coordination of training workshops.
- Support the development of training materials.
- Support the research that is required on issues of migration crises and migration due to climate change.
- Administrative procedures for implementing migration crises and migration due to climate change activities.
- Keep always updated on the documents that accredit the activities of the migratory crisis and migration due to climate change.
- Support the preparation of concept notes and terms of reference in the framework of the activities of the migration crisis and migration due to climate change.
- Proactively and creatively identify new actions, tools and partnerships that are aligned with migration crises and climate change migration.
- Coordinate with other colleagues of the Program transversal / integral actions that help to reinforce the actions of migratory crises and migration due to climate change.
- Travel to cities/countries to support activities related to migration crises and migration due to climate change.
- Support the Regional Technical Specialist of the Program (Migration Crisis) in implementing the activities under his charge.
- Other functions assigned by the Regional Technical Specialist of the Program (Migration Crisis).
IV. Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or related fields from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
- Accredited professional experience in research and project management in social sciences.
- Proven professional experience working with government counterparts.
- Proven professional experience in migration and/or human rights.
- Knowledge about risk management and climate change.
SKILLS
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in an intercultural environment.
- Precision and attention to detail.
- Writing and public speaking skills.
